What Woodside hosts and builders need

Woodside's properties are bigger and more rural than Atherton's, with barns, arenas, wooded slopes and gravel drives. Construction often involves outbuildings as well as the main house, so a single site may need units in two places over the life of the job. Owners also host outdoor events, such as weddings, charity dinners and riding-club gatherings, that need restrooms placed far from the house.

Huddart Park and Wunderlich Park, both San Mateo County parks, are the big public open spaces here. Groups use Huddart's picnic areas for company outings, reunions and camp days.

From Atherton up the hill

Atherton and Woodside are linked by Woodside Road (State Route 84) and Atherton Avenue, and the same team plans both. Woodside's construction day is longer than Atherton's on weekdays and includes Saturday mornings, so a Woodside job can sometimes take a Saturday service visit that wouldn't be allowed on an Atherton site. Park events and town hours

For a group event at Huddart Park, start by reserving a picnic area with San Mateo County Parks. If the event goes beyond what the area is booked for, or needs extra setup, the county asks for approval from the supervising ranger and a special event application. That application includes a hold-harmless form, an insurance certificate and fees, and is due at least 10 working days before the event. On private land, Woodside allows construction 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
